More Beautiful You

The world tells us that our worth is defined by our outward appearance. We are judged more by the numbers on the scale than the size of our heart. Magazines tell us that we all should be at least 5’10 and 110 lbs. Well I don’t know about you but the 110lbs is obtainable but the 5’10 is just NEVER going to happen regardless of how tall my heels are.

This 5 foot frame is only going to shrink (I’m going to be one of those little old ladies who can’t see over the steering wheel and still driving at 90!!!) WATCH OUT! Oops off topic. I worry that my 2 young girls are going to think that if they don’t dress a certain way, if they don’t have the perfect nose, aren’t the perfect size, that they are going to be less of people. They are going to be pressured by worldly ideals and values. Will they be strong enough to stand against those things or will they fall to the idea or worldly perfection. T

he sad truth is that as adults we also feel this way. As women and as a society we have put this pressure on ourselves that we must fit the mold of what others want us to look and be. But the truth is we are all different and different because of God’s glory. He designed each one of us in HIS image, not the worlds. Scripture even tells us that Jesus wasn’t exactly the greatest looker, but that didn’t stop him from serving the purpose that was intended just for him. We have all been given a purpose, a different and glorious purpose. The chorus of the song says “Don’t buy the lies, disguises and hoops they make you jump through.

You were made to fill a purpose that only you can do. There could NEVER be a more beautiful you”. Your purpose is not my purpose or your neighbors purpose. Stop comparing yourself to others or what others might expect you to be. Just be YOU and hopefully the eyes of young girls will follow.
