“Fun” fact – when I was a teen I used to play the drums for church. I hated it. It wasn’t my idea to do it, but for some reason I was the one chosen for the job.
I didn’t like having to wear a dress or skirt to play, and I didn’t like when visitors came – I felt like they were staring at me and making fun of me – gawking (maybe they were, maybe they weren’t).
Now I look back and I think – Des you’ve always been different, and that is so symbolic to how you’ve always marched to the beat of your own drum.
Through the years in different ways I tried to fit in because I didn’t want to be made fun of for things I couldn’t control. So then I started to be different on purpose so that if I was made fun of, it was for things I could control, because like Auntie Tab says “that’s my business”.
I’ve learned now that whether being different and made fun of is in my control or not – I have to grace myself. I’m unique on purpose for a purpose that is much greater than me and my ego. Let me continue to be who God created me to naturally be.
I’m a whole vibe no matter what, so I might as well embrace it – going with my own beat, rhythm and flow. Maybe that’s why I love lo-fi beats.
I encourage you to remember to GRACE YOURSELF, find the cool and unique qualities of who you are and rock that thing out! Find your beat, your rhythm, and your flow.
So let them stare! You never know, it could be out of admiration and it might spark something new in them.
People are looking for a vibe like yours to resonate with. People are looking for a vibe like yours to be inspired and motivated by. Be yourself. Grace Yourself. And let God take care of the rest. ❤
